True Detective meets cheat day in this bite-sized detective thriller, which we created to launch McDonalds’ new Loaded Fries product. Facebook viewers were invited to shape the plot, which was released in 5 episodes with an interactive decision point at the end of each.

The best fan suggestions were shot and cut into the film every 3 days for 2 weeks. Contributors earned official writing credits, and the film played at Tropfest, the world's biggest short film festival. Here’s the case study - scroll down to see the full final film as it played at Tropfest.

At the end of each episode, fans were faced with a cliffhanger 'decision point', and prompted to suggest what happened next. The best suggestions were scripted, shot and edited into the next episode, to be released 2 days later.


Fan engagement was extremely high, with a large volume of quality responses and repeat contributors. We interacted with the fans, pushing them to develop their ideas and creating bespoke storyboard frames for the best suggestions on the fly.




The final film played live at Tropfest, the world's biggest short film festival, to over 80,000 film fans and the judging panel, led by Mel Gibson.
